Shweep

I’m Shweep. I’ve been playing WoW on and off since December 2005, so Azeroth has been part of my life for a pretty ridiculous amount of time at this point. A story many of us can share.

Before Classic officially came back in 2019, I spent plenty of time playing on private servers too. One of my favorite WoW memories ever was on one of those servers, when a buddy and I carefully planned out our XP bars so we could hit 60 at exactly the same time while questing together in Silithus. We actually pulled off the double ding, and for whatever reason, that moment has always stuck with me.

I’ve played plenty of Retail over the years too (Legion Class Halls were my favorite thing ever introduced there), but the older style of WoW has always been what really feels like home to me. Leveling, getting lost in the world, running dungeons (with tactics), working on professions, and actually getting to know the people you’re playing with instead of just rushing toward the next thing.

Speaking of professions, I somehow always manage to half-ass or completely skip Cooking. I blame the fact that my first character back in 2005 was a mage, so I got way too comfortable just conjuring my own food/drink. These days I usually main a Shadow Priest, but apparently I built that bad habit permanently because I still act like conjured food is going to magically appear in my bags.

And honestly, walking up that long path toward Ironforge still gets me every time. Something about seeing it come into view just feels like coming home.
