House Stormfang: An Independent Unit of House Wulf
The Connection
Its founders came up through House Wulf — trained under its banner, fought with their kin, and carried its values with them — before striking out to lead a company of their own. Stormwind recognized House Wulf as sovereignty.
Where House Wulf operates broadly across many fronts, House Stormfang is smaller, faster, and self-directed — free to choose the missions, garrisons, and rescues that suit its own judgment, without waiting on a parent house or a war council. Same wolf. Same instinct to protect. But it's Stormfang's to run now, and Stormfang's own name that goes up on the banner.
The Wulf Charter
When the Crown moved to formally recognize the new house, King's Council scribes drafted and sealed the document that became known as the Wulf Charter — a nod to the lineage House Stormfang carries forward, even as an independent body. The Charter establishes House Stormfang as a self-governing military order in full partnership with the Kingdom of Stormwind, granting:
Full autonomy in governance — House Stormfang sets its own ranks, membership, training, and internal law, answerable to no one but itself.
Standing authority to act in Stormwind's name in the war against the Horde, without requiring case-by-case royal writ for each engagement.
Recognized independence from House Wulf's command — the Charter names House Stormfang a distinct, sovereign house, tied to House Wulf by lineage and loyalty rather than by chain of command.
A binding obligation in return — House Stormfang swears to answer Stormwind's muster in times of war, and to render aid and shelter to any subject of the Alliance in need, without condition or delay.
In practice, the Charter is less a leash than a handshake: Stormwind doesn't command House Stormfang any more than House Wulf does. It trusts them — and House Stormfang has made a habit of proving that trust well-placed.
